Our employees and directors live and work in the Corpus Christi area, participate in local events, and make donations that help to improve our community.
2007 Thanksgiving Baskets Given Away
In November, 2007 CCCECU gave away Thanksgiving Baskets to four families in our community with special needs. The baskets came complete with a traditional Thanksgiving turkey! This has become a Thanksgiving tradition of our staff for over 12 years.
CCCECU Partners With City Assistance Team
CCCECU provided funding to the City Assistance Team (CAT) in December, 2007 to help children from the George Evans Elementary School to obtain new shoes and socks for Christmas. Children receiving new shoes and socks are from low-income families and were selected by school representatives based upon the level of need. After choosing their new shoes at Payless Shoe Store on Horne Road each student was given a meal by McDonald's. In addition to funding for the shoes, CCCECU staff members were on hand along with CAT volunteers to assist the students in selecting their new shoes.
CAT is a volunteer group made up of employees of the City of Corpus Christi. CAT is an adopt-a-school partner for George Evans Elementary. CAT has sponsored this special holiday project for the past 17 years. CCCECU has provided funding support for the past 5 years.
Credit Unions for Kids
The credit union philosophy has always been “People Helping People”, so it is no surprise that credit unions throughout the nation actively support the Children’s Miracle Network (CMN) which locally assists Driscoll Children’s Hospital. 100% of the local donations received stay in our community. Your credit union, along with other credit unions in the coastal bend, raise funds throughout the year to donate to CMN. Through candy sales and other fundraising activities, our employees helped raise $ in contributions for the Driscoll Children’s Hospital 2007 campaign.
United Way
Each year, CCCECU participates in the local United Way Campaign with both employee contributions and incentive awards to encourage city employees to make donations to the local United Way Campaign. Incentive contributions provided by the credit union totaling $1,000 were made to city employees during the 2007 United Way Campaign as well as the donation of a new flat screen TV that was given away during the city-wide United Way Kickoff Fair held during the fall of 2007. Credit Union employees have also pledged over to the 2007/2008 United Way Campaign.
